Creating joyful bicycle riders
Bike Fun strives to create joyful bicycle riders in Middle Tennessee. One of the ways we do this is to support new and returning bicycle riders – from beginning to intermediate levels. We provide one-on-one lessons, small group classes, workshops, rides, and events. See our Rates page for more information.
Bike Fun is affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists as a Bicycle Friendly Business. Our instructors are League Cycling Instructors, having taken a structured learning course to be able to demonstrate riding skills to others.
We offer low- or no-cost workshops and classes at various locations around Middle Tennessee (mainly in the Nashville area). Some of the services we’ve provided are listed here.
If you are interested in one-on-one bicycle lessons with Bike Fun, our one-on-one and small group lessons are currently scheduled (as of December 2022) on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The calendar here will typically have a rough outline of availability and activities, though specifics will usually be best sorted via direct contact. We teach riding skills outdoors so it is weather dependent. Our weather and health safety protocol information is here.
For both one-on-one and small group classes, we have bicycles that can be loaned to students for use during the class and potentially to borrow afterwards for practice.
All rides are no-drop rides with Smart Cycling techniques. Rides are no-cost unless otherwise noted on the event page.
“Am I too old to learn to ride?”
The oldest learn-to-ride student that we have instructed was in their 70s.
“Are they too young to learn to ride?”
The youngest learn-to-ride student that we have instructed was 4 years old.
“How long will it take to learn to ride/learn this new skill/etc?”
All humans learn at different rates. Each student is encouraged to work at their own pace – some students will pick up riding very quickly and others need more time. Bike Fun works to provide a compassionate, low-stress, encouraging learning environment.
